Abolish 'third party certification' to save money and time
Supported by pilot consulting such as Korea Robot Industry Promotion Agency

Recently, the robot industry has introduced a customized safety inspection method for cooperative robots that is spreading. Unlike in the past, when three-way authentication was required after safety inspection, it has been simplified so that companies in demand for robots can perform safety certification on their own.

According to the robot industry on the 14th, STS Robotech Co., Ltd. and STS Precision Co., Ltd., located in Busan, are the first cases of applying a new cooperative robot safety inspection method.
The safety inspection of large-scale cooperative robots installed in one workplace is also unusual.

The two companies, which are in the business of processing metals using machine tools and cooperative robots, are operating 113 cooperative robots of Rainbow Robotics (198,600 won ▲ 9,600 5.08%).
These robots were tested for safety on the 22nd and 24th of last month. Recently, the Korea Safety Technology Association notified of the passing of the safety test and issued a certificate.

Cooperative robots are subject to safety inspection. Since cooperative robots are used without installing fences, business owners of demanding companies must prove safety measures. Until now, only three-way authentication was possible, which cost a lot of money and time.
However, regulations have been changed since last year to allow companies to "declare of conformity" on their own, and STS Robotech and STS Precision became the first cases of different regulations being applied.
The Korea Robot Industry Promotion Agency, an existing three-way certification body, the Korea Robot Convergence Research Institute, and the Korea Robot Industry Association conducted pilot consulting for the two companies to help with new safety inspections.

The safety inspection of STS Robotech and STS Precision was conducted on safety areas, angle limit settings, insensitivity settings and program crash detection settings, models and line numbers of robot arms and controllers.
In this safety inspection process, the "force-power limit mode (PFL)" was applied to enable cooperative work between workers and robots without installing fences or sensors.

Kim Ki-hwan, CEO of STS Robotech and STS Precision, said, "Based on the results of passing large-scale cooperative robot safety inspection, we continue to strive to provide robot automation solutions using cooperative robots."
We will also constantly develop daily robot food and beverage (F&B) products, he said. Sohn Woong-hee, director of the Korea Robot Industry Promotion Agency, said, "Through this pilot consulting, cooperative robot safety self-suitability has been recognized from the perspective of companies."
It has helped a lot, such as reducing costs and shortening time, he said. "We plan to continue to support this self-conformity declaration consulting to revitalize the cooperative robot market."

STS Robotech is a company specializing in integrating machine-tending robot systems using numerical control machine tools (SI, combining robot arms and grippers, and related software to meet demand).
It is also a demand company that has the largest cooperative robot in Korea and is using it for production lines. It is an agency that monopolizes the supply of Rainbow Robotics products to the Yeongnam region last year.
It supplied 128 cooperative robots to 13 Korean companies with machine-tending solutions. The gripper (the part corresponding to the robot's "hand") is developed based on the machine tools it has.
Food and beverage cooperative robot solutions such as kimbap robots, unmanned cafe robots, and chicken robots were also released.
